Roxane R. Ponozzo

Roxane R. Ponozzo, age 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. Roxane was born on August 26, 1931 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Wallace and Odeth (Fregetto) Ross.  She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1949.  She received her license practical nurse certificate from Gogebic Community School in 1977.  She was employed with Dr. Ray Koivunen at the Ice Lake Medical Building, prior to working at the Crandon Nursing Home until 1983. She then worked with the handicapped at the Brown County Community Service Center and the Van Buren Rehabilitation Center in Green Bay from 1986 until her retirement in 1993.  She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River and the St. Agnes Alter Society.  She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, taking trips to the casino, and canning vegetables.  Roxane is survived by her son, Mark (Jill) Ponozzo of Iron River, MI; daughters, Debra (Jon) Clark of Leesburg, FL and Patti Dzanbazoff of Iron River, MI; brother, Wallace Ross of Fairbury, IL; five grandchildren, Chad, Marcie, and Lucas Clark, Cari Dzanbazoff, and Stacey Bushey; and seven great grandchildren; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Grace Bushey. Private services will be held. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Iron County Cancer Unit, PO Box 45, Iron River, MI 49935.
