Roy W. Sivula, age 99, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020. Roy was born on January 28, 1921 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late William and Hilma (Lindgren) Sivula. He attended the Iron River Schools. Roy was a United States Army Signal Corps Veteran of World War II. He served in the European Theater of Operations participating in five campaigns. He married the former Esther Hepokoski on March 3, 1946 in Chicago, IL. The couple lived in Minnesota and he was employed by the Honeywell Company for over 20 years, as a Quality Controller. After his retirement, the couple returned to Iron River in 1979 to make their home. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in 2014, before Esther preceded him in death on February 12, 2015. Roy was a jack-of-all-trades and could repair and build almost anything. He enjoyed reading and learning about a variety of subjects and even started a few at-home businesses based on what he learned. Roy was also a member of the Amateur Radio Club for many years Roy is survived by sons, Richard (Susan) Sivula of Anoka, MN, Paul (Signe) Sivula of Savage, MN, Mark (Vicki) Sivula of St. Louis Park, MN, and Eric Sivula of Iron River, MI; daughter, Nancy Nygard of Isle, MN; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Irene Gendron of Phelps, WI. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Iron River, MI.
