Rudolph “Rudy” J. Dedo, age 93, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on August 2, 1927 in Caspian, MI, the son of the late John and Lillian (Boleck) Dedo. He attended the Caspian and Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School, with the Class of 1946. Rudy married June Monnot on December 3, 1948 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the couple were lifelong residents of the area, living in Caspian. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2011. June preceded Rudy in death on January 17, 2012. He was employed by the M.A. Hanna Mining Company at the Hiawatha #1, Hiawatha #2, the Homer-Wauseca, White Pine Copper Mine, and later at the Groveland Mine, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and a former member of the Iron River Elks Lodge #1671. He enjoyed gardening evidenced by a yard that was always in bloom. Rudy loved the lilac hedge that framed his yard and was often seen trimming it. He and June canned everything from his garden and so much more. He especially enjoyed his canned hot peppers and even the fish he caught were often canned. Rudy is survived by his sons, Frank (Kay) Dedo of Crystal Falls, MI and John (Patricia) Dedo, of Norway, MI; daughter, Judith (Rick) Parmentier of East China Township, MI; five grandchildren, Jordan, Blaise, Leeannne, Nathan, and Ryan; nine great grandchildren, Lucie, Isaac, Cooper, Myles, Bobby, Nathan, Alexys, Ashlyn, and Spencer; nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura Dedo Andraschko; great grandson, Quinn Lewis Dedo; brothers, Tom and Frank Dedo; and sisters, Mary Lundin and Elizabeth Hardy. Visitation will be held on Thursday March 18 from 10:00am until 11:30am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase offering the Mass of Christian Burial. At the request of the family and the funeral home, masks are required and please respect social distancing. The pallbearers will be John Dedo, Frank Dedo, Jordan Dedo, Blaise Dedo, Mike Dedo and Mike Burge. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
