Russell R. Ball, age 83, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1939, in Crystal Falls, MI, the son of the late Melvin and Sigrid (Impola) Ball. Russell attended the Crystal Falls Schools and graduated. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Russell married Janet Meyers on June 25, 1998, and they made their home in Caspian. They celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary in 2009. Janet preceded him in death on February 10, 2010. He was employed as a miner for the Empire Mine for 30 years. Russell was a member of The American Legion Reino Post #21. He loved fishing in the river and spending time at his camp. Russell is survived by his children, Cheryl (Art) Rautio of Michigamme, MI, David (Linda) Meyers of Caspian, MI, and Rose (Andrew) Lewis of Iron River, MI; brother, Ronald (Maxine) Ball of Ishpeming, MI; sisters, Marilyn Fields of Fond du Lac, WI, Lorraine Hamner and Beverly Wahl, both of Milwaukee, WI, and Velma Cole of Howard City, MI; grandchildren, Trenton Meyers and Mariah and Noah Lewis; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his infant sister, Muriel Ball and sister, Nina Lenz. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor DJ Rasner to officiate. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Alvin, WI. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
