Ruth Kassa

Ruth M. Kassa, age 91, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on December 15, 1931, in Stambaugh Township, MI, the daughter of the late Walker and Nancy (McIntosh) Spicer. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the class of 1949. Ruth married Allen J. Kassa on September 15, 1951, in Iron River, MI, where the couple made their home. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001. Allen preceded her in death on November 4, 2001. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iron River and attended meetings of the Lee LeBlanc Chapter of the Audubon Society and the Northwoods Geology Club. She loved the outdoors and tending to her garden and solving word search puzzles. She also enjoyed volunteering at church and other places in the community. Ruth is survived by her son, Brian Kassa of Iron River, MI; sister-in-law, Carol Kassa of Germantown, WI; and nieces, Keri (Kevin) Chapman and their children, Aiden and Ellis and Kathi Terami and her children, Rose and River; and a circle of friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, George Kassa and sister, Dorothy Kosky. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Stambaugh Cemetery with Al Smith to officiate.
