Mrs. Ruth ""Dolly"" Talerico, age 84 of Iron River, MI, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: August 2, 1924 in Battle Ground, WA The daughter of the late Delbert and Ruth (Mobley) Smith attended Battle Ground schools graduating in 1942. She was employed as a telephone operator by Michigan Bell for many years. She worked as a welder at the shipyards during World War II. She was the first female member of Future Farmers of America in the state of Washington. Dolly married Dominic Talerico in Battle Ground, WA and the couple later moved to Caspian to make their home. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. Dominic preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. She enjoyed swimming, sewing and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Orlin Smith. She is survived by two sons, James ""Jim"" (Bonnie) Talerico of Green Bay, WI Robert Rivera of Iron River One daughter, Rikki (Todd) Biggin of Iron River Two sisters, Eve (Herman) Wingert of Renton, WA Betty Otis of Battle Ground, WA Five grandchildren; Rachel Champagne Julie Tarras Daniel Talerico Jennifer Paine Jordyn Biggin Four great grandchildren Visitation: Monday, May 18, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River Funeral Service: Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian with Rev. Norman Clisch to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
