Sally J. Johnson, age 70, of South Lyon, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Northstar Health System, Iron River, MI. She was born June 22, 1945 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of Arne and Lorraine (Colien) Maki. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School with the Class of 1963. Sally was a member of the cheerleading squad and played sax in the marching band. Just a quick change of uniform and she was ready for the half-time show. While attending Northern Michigan University, she met and married David Johnson in 1965. Sally worked as a secretary for Ford Motor Company and at the University of Michigan. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of South Lyon. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She also liked water activities, swimming, boating and sailing. Her favorite spot was their cottage at Chicagoan Lake. Sally is survived by her husband, David; son, Matthew David Johnson of South Lyon, MI; brother, Robert Maki of Stambaugh; sister, Colien (Donald) Gurchinoff of Stambaugh; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Michael Woempner to officiate. The family suggests memorial donations to the Iron County Cancer Unit.
