Sally Ann Karvala

Sally Ann Karvala, age 83, of Iron River, MI, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She was born February 28, 1932, the daughter of the late John V. and Mary A. (Rodeghiero) Dunk. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1950. Sally married DeWayne Karvala on September 29, 1951 at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, where the couple made their home. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in 1980. DeWayne preceded her in death in 1981. She later married Melvin Kneebone and he preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts, music, and camping. Sally was an accomplished organist, playing at St. Agnes Catholic Church and many other public venues. Sally is survived her daughter, Kim (Dan) Wester of Iron River; sons, Michael (Michelle) Karvala of Ishpeming, MI, Bryan Karvala of Iron River, Pat (Sue) Karvala of Milwaukee, and Steve (Kathy) Karvala of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Richard (Beverly) Dunk of Milwaukee, WI; sister, Sue (Tom) Phlanz of Iron River; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Karvala and daughter, Kristine Ehlinger. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
