Santford "Sonny" B. Moore

Santford “Sonny” B. Moore, 81, of Gillett, WI, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 in Appleton, WI. He was born on July 9, 1932 in Tipler, WI, the son of the late Santford and Ella (Kempka) Moore. Santford attended the Iron River Schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was employed as a Supervisor for Chrysler for over 25 years, retiring in 1986. Santford married the former Loretta Puckett on January 2, 1954 in the Baumgartner District of Stambaugh Township and the couple made their home in Gillett for over 25 years, where they raised their three children, Debra, Linda, and Sam Jr. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year. Santford was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; son, Sam (Kelly) Moore of Gillett; daughter, Linda (Jerry) Taylor of Gillett; brother, Walter Moore of Iron River; sister, Ella Mae of Youngstown, OH; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Moore; two sisters, Dorothy and Betty; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service will be Friday, January 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, with Pastor Dawn Treado Green to officiate. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Alvin, WI in the spring. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
