Sharon A. Palmer, age 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on December 2, 1928, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (Trewartha) Anderson. She attended the Iron River Schools. Sharon married Raymond Palmer on April 15, 1950 and the couple made their home in Stambaugh. In her early years, Sharon was employed at the Ferris Studios, Iron River Floral Shop, and a salesclerk at Ben Franklin, all of Iron River. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Iron River and the American Legion Reino Post #21 Auxiliary since 1959. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and helping other people. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and always said, “Don’t call while the game is on.” She is survived by her sons, Raymond James Jr. (Betty) Palmer of Crystal Falls, MI and Donald (Jane) Palmer of Marquette, MI; daughter, Julie Ann (Mark) Tollander of Shoreview, MN; brother, Tom (Pam) Anderson of Oshkosh, Wi; sisters, Faye Veeser of Iron Mountain, MI, Lynn (Rick) Taetsch of West Bend, WI, and Carol (Gene) Bissing of Appleton, WI; seven grandchildren, Deryk and Kristi Palmer, Nicole (Brad) Harvala, Nick and Alex Palmer, Jacob and Jessica Tollander; six great grandchildren, Kendra Carlson, and Dominic and Dylan Palmer, Waylon, Nathan, and Alex Harvala; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray; infant son, Gary Lee, brother and sister-in-law, Dalwin “Bud” and Mildred Anderson; sister, Alice Quaintance, brother-in-law, Jack Veeser. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. The American Legion Reino Post #21 Ladies Auxiliary will form a Poppy Honor Guard at the visitation. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River.
