Sharon L. Sarafiny, age 85, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on July 12, 1937, in Stambaugh, MI and was the daughter of the late Lambert and Delvina (O’Donnell) Stolberg. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the class of 1955. Sharon married Gary F. Sarafiny on June 30, 1956, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Stambaugh, MI. The couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2019. Gary preceded her in death on January 17, 2020. Upon returning to the area, she was employed at West Iron County Community Schools Daycare, owner and operator of Town and Country Store in Iron River and several local laundromats. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI. Sharon enjoyed, shopping, reading, and decorating. She was always devoted to her family. Sharon is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Bill) Gustafson of Superior, WI, Tina Sarafiny of Iron River, MI, and Shelly Losey (Mick Holmes) of Crystal Falls, MI; brothers, Jim (Dorothy) Stolberg and Dan Stolberg; sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Talerico and Dawn Margoni; grandchildren, Dustin Keliin, Dana (Craig Stevens) Keliin, Lana (Sean) Bowser, Lisa (Jason) Kichura, Adam (Tina) Bowser, Chris (Jordanna) Bowser, Eric Ghiggia, Nick Ghiggia, Laura Ghiggia, Tess (Nate) Newby, Zane (Kailey) Sarafiny, Raegan Sarafiny, and isabella (Brody) Vander-steen; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; sister-in-law, Gloria Rae; special friend, Gail Stachowicz; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary D. Sarafiny; in-laws, Frank and Lillian Sarafiny; son-in-law, Gerald Losey; grandchildren, Nathan Gustafson and Adrianne Ceron; great granddaughter, Cierra Ghiggia; and brother-in-law, Bill Rae. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Fosu to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
