Sharon Ann Slevoski

Sharon Ann Slevoski, age 68 of Iron River, MI, passed away quietly Saturday night, December 26, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Born: May 15, 1941 in Waukegan, IL The daughter of the late Walter and Oakel (Lewis) Helgemo attended the Bates Twp. Schools and graduated from Iron River High School in 1959. She was employed by Spartanics in Palatine, IL for over twenty years. She later owned and operated Awards Plus in Palatine until her retirement. Sharon married Dale T. Slevoski June 20, 1975 in Waukegan, IL and the couple celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary in 2000. Following retirement, the couple moved from Illinois to the Iron River area, spending winter months in Florida. The couple also enjoyed spending time at their cabin near Deer Lake. Sharon was an avid Chicago Sports Fan, following the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls. Dale preceded her in death last week, December 20, 2009. She was a member of the Red Hatters and a Hospital Volunteer in Florida. She was active in the Relay for Life. She is survived by her son, Robert Denis of Bristol, WI Step-daughter, Diane (William) Barton of Traverse City, MI Brother, Grant Helgemo of Bates Twp., MI Sisters; Sandra (Bruce) Hassen of Royal Oak, MI Patti (Jack) Comp of Dryden, MI Step Mother, Alice Helgemo of Iron River Three step grandchildren Loving nieces, nephews and extended family Visitation: Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, with Pastor Dawn Treado Green to officiate.
