Sharon Trapasso, age 79, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. Sharon was born on September 5, 1939 in Vulcan, MI, the daughter of the late August and Evelyn (Jackomino) Menghini. She was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from the Iron River High School, with the Class of 1957. She was employed by Ottawa Wood Products of Caspian for 22 years, until its closure. She also worked at the Sweet Corner Grocery for many years and later at the Iron River Care Center for six years, retiring in 2002. On October 14, 1967, she married Ralph Trapasso at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River and the couple made their home in Caspian, MI. They celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in 2005. Ralph preceded her in death on July 28, 2006. Sharon is survived by her brothers, August (Claudia) Menghini Jr. of Green Bay, WI and Terry (Sue) Menghini of Iron River, MI; sisters, Carol (Edwin) Redig of Gaastra, MI and Elizabeth (Nyle) Parchim of Natchitoches, LA; grandchildren, April and Dereck Walczak; great granddaughter, Riley Leanne Walczak; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Richard on March 10, 2003 and her brother, Jeffrey Menghini on February 22, 1991. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 9:00 to 10:30 at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral service will follow at 11am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The Ladies of St. Anne’s Society will form an honor guard at the service. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River.
