Shaylin Laine Thorne, age 27, of New Iberia, LA passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at Iberia Medical Center following a car accident. He was born May 13, 1987 in Memphis, TN, the son of Gina M. Giuliani and A. Peter Thorne III. He attended the West Iron County Schools and Marshal Academy in Holly Springs, MS. Shaylin graduated from JFK High in Cedar Rapids, IA after being recruited to play hockey for them. He attended Iowa State followed by technical school to become a deep sea diver. Shaylin lived life and put his heart into everything he did. His room at home is filled with trophies. He was fast and agile on the ice. He was an experienced hunter, dove out of airplanes and off sea walls in Hawaii. He tangled with Macho sharks, skied from the tops of mountains, scaled sheer cliff walls, and worked at Ranger Offshore as a deep sea diver and welder. Shaylin was a world traveler visiting and enjoying so many countries with his mother, his father, and then on his own. Shaylin is survived by his mother, Gina M. (Dye) Giuliani and Michael R. Dye; his father, A. Peter Thorne III; sisters, Keilyn Laine Dye-Giuliani, Cameo and Karen Thorne, and Debra Dye; brothers, Sean (Gina) Thorne, Jason (Leandra) Thorne, Bryan (Kimberly) Dye, and Gregory (Stephanie) Dye; grandmothers, Betty A. Laine Giuliani Nordstrom and Mary Nelson McAndrews; aunts, Gail (George) Lennan, Barbara (Randy) Loberger, Hiliary Giuliani, Sandra Griswold; uncles, Brian (Joan) Giuliani, Rickey (Mary) Giuliani, Cory (Shelly) Giuliani; nieces, Breanna Thorne, Sara Thorne, Madelyn Dye, Trinity Dye; nephews, Joshua Thorne, Brandon Thorne, Justin Dye, Colton Dye; many dear close cousins and extended family and friends. Shaylin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, “Papa” Lauren Nordstrom and “Nono” Geno F. Giuliani and uncle, Chris Giuliani and infant uncle, Gene Allen Giuliani. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River with Reverend Gregory Veneklase, Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Stambaugh Cemetery.
