Signe H. Hallberg

Signe H. Hallberg, age 91 of Iron River, MI, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: August 31, 1917 in Iron River The daughter of the late Samuel and Hulda Luopa attended the Hertzen Elementary School in Beechwood and graduated from Iron River High School in 1935. After graduation, she attended the School of Cosmetology and worked as a beautician for over 30 years. Signe married Eric W. Hallberg on March 17, 1939 in Chicago, IL. Eric preceded her in death in 1958. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Iron River and the St. Paul's Ladies Aide. She loved to garden, fish, read, sew, and dance. She also catered and enjoyed being part of the Ladies Aide. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Paul. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Oliver Luopa and sister Allie Harvala. She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Eric) Luhtanen of Iron River Grandson, Paul Luhtanen Nieces; Judy (Pat) Bentley Gail (Al Gregg) Gustafson Carol (Lester) Ristinen Many great nieces, nephews, and cousins Visitation: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Iron River. Funeral Service: Wednesday, June 24 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Iron River, with Rev. Gary Markworth to officiate.
