Sophie M. Polich

Sophie M. Polich, age 94, of Caspian, MI, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. The daughter of the late Jacob ""Jack"" and Mary (Konopka) Brey attended the Caspian and Stambaugh schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School. She married Emil Polich in 1939 and the couple made their home in Hillsdale, MI, and from 1954 in New Jersey. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1989. Sophie was employed in retail sales by Macy's Department store for many years, retiring in 1978. Following retirement, the couple returned to Caspian to make their home. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. She was preceded in death by her husband Emil in 2001, one brother, Albert Brey, and three sisters; Frances Johnson, Julie Budz and Alice Schott. She is survived by her son, Michael (Kathleen) Polich Daughter, Karen Polich Brothers; Robert (Karen) Brey and Theodore Brey Sisters; Eleanore Anderson and Florence Michalewicz Sisters-in-law; Agnes Tadey, Evelyn Bors and Olga Polich Three grandchildren and four great grandchildren Nieces and nephews Visitation: Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 12:00 noon at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
