Stanley R. Hooper Age 53 Iron River, MI Passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI. He was born January 15, 1959 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Russell and Verna (Tervo) Hooper. He attended the West Iron County Schools, graduating with the Class of 1977. Following graduation, he attended Gustaus Aldolphus in Minnesota, and later transferred to Central Michigan University, graduating with the Class of 1981. Stanley was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River. To know Stan was to be reminded about all that is best in people. His humility, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his quick sense of humor were cherished by his family and friends; and even those who only met him briefly sensed the kindness in his soul. He loved to sing and dance, to bake, to read, to take long road trips, and to be outdoors, fishing the lakes and walking through the Upper Michigan land he had explored since he was a little boy. Those who knew him will miss his funny stories and impressions, which could make you laugh until you cried. We 'll miss the quiet strength and dignity he exuded despite his lifelong health struggles. But mainly we will be thankful to have known such a rare and precious person, and we will draw inspiration from the example of his life "" to live simply and to love deeply. He left us far too soon, but his gentle heart resonates in each of us, and it always will. He is survived by his parents, Russell and Verna Hooper, Aunt Bertha (Jerry) Pangrazzi of Iron River; son, Phillip Hooper of Las Vegas, NV, Phillip 's mother, Sharon Cates of Carmel, CA; sisters, Linda (David) McTaggart of Mead, WA, and Susan Hooper of Bloomington, MN; brothers, David M.
