Steven C. Dzanbazoff, age 93, of Gaastra, MI, died Saturday evening December 19, 2009 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: May 19, 1916 in Caspian, MI The son of the late Peter and Melvina (Desjarlais) Dzanbazoff was a lifelong resident. He attended the Stambaugh schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. He married the former Katherine Rose Smith November 4, 1950 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River. The couple made their home in Gaastra and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2000. Steven worked for the White Pine Copper Mining Company for five years and then he owned and operated the Mid-City Bar in Caspian for many years retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian and the American Legion Reino Post #21, Stambaugh, MI. Steven enjoyed gardening, bowling and dancing. He was also preceded in death by a brother Tom; sisters Audrey Anderson, Helen Cieciorka, Renee Jende and Muriel Plutchak. He is survived by his wife, Rose His son, Ben (Julie)Dzanbazoff of Southgate, MI Daughters; Stephanie (Tom) Knorr of Neenah, WI Denise (Mike) Weyenberg of Kaukauna, WI Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren Nieces, nephews, and extended family Visitation: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian with the Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River and the West Side Veterans will conduct Military Rites at the Graveside Service in the spring. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
