Sue S. Hackner

Sue S. Hackner, age 93, formerly of Green Bay, WI, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1930, in Manitowoc, WI, the daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Dinneen) Sargeant. Sue attended the Manitowoc Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1948. She graduated from Northwest Institute of Medical Technology and attended UW-Madison. Sue married Giles Hackner on October 10, 1953, in Manitowoc, WI. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in 1986. Giles preceded her in death on March 23, 1987. She was a member of the Bellin Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in their gift shop for over 20 years. Sue was also a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. She enjoyed being on the water, downhill skiing, playing bridge, bowling, knitting, and being outdoors. Sue is survived by her daughters, Ann Hackner of North Royalton, OH and Barbara Leonoff of Iron River, MI; sister-in-law, Mary Bracken of La Crosse, WI; grandchildren, Robert (Heidi) Leonoff, Kelly (Steve) Wehausen, and Kayte (Jeremy) Balza; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Sargeant and son-in-law, Kurt Leonoff. Private services will be held. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Allouez, WI.
