Terry Lee Stapleton, better known as Sprout, of Alvin, Wisconsin passed away at his home January 7, 2023 at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by son, Jamie Iraci; parents Wayne and Anna (Beckman) Stapleton; and brothers Ronald Stapleton and Kenneth Stapleton. He is survived by Jane Funk, committed partner; son Dennis (DJ) and wife Amber; daughters Melissa and Patricia; sister Diane Borske, brothers Alfred, Les, Mark, Gary (Bubbles) and Curt; grandchildren Harper, Lachlan, Greta, Arkatya, Nathaniel, MaKayla, Jamie Lynne, Madison, Aubree, Payton, and Paisley. He also considered Myriah Funk and Marissa (Funk) Musial his daughters. After high school, he joined the Air Force and was assigned as office secretary to the Lieutenant (he could type at 65 wpm). After serving his country, he had numerous jobs in mechanics and foundry work before finding his favorite position with Ski Brule as lift operator and maintenance. Sprout is best known by Iron County Demo fans as number 58. Competing in the Demo Derby before legal driving age and for a total of 46 years, he amassed several boxes of trophies. For Sprout, both driving and mechanical skill came naturally. At age 13 he once fixed Willy Beckman’s (uncle) school bus with his boot laces after the tie-rod broke, and all arrived home safely, of course while listening to the 8-track player that Sprout installed. His demo magic is similarly renowned. If you have a special story or memory to share, please join Sprout’s family and friends on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the Little White Church in Alvin, Wisconsin--10:30 am visitation, 12 pm service with a potluck lunch to follow. Condolences and memorial contributions can be sent to the Jacobs Funeral Home in care of the family.
