Terry C. Strom

August 18, 1947 — July 29, 2017

On Saturday, July 29, 2017, Terry Charles Strom passed away after a seven year battle with multiple myeloma at the age of 69 years. Terry was born on August 18, 1947 to Thorston and Lempi (Wirtanen) Strom, who preceded him in death. He was the youngest of three, with a sister, Violet Salo (surviving), of Iron River, and brother, Dennis Strom (deceased). He is also preceded in death by his step-dad, Oscar Gustafson. Terry started his career working in the woods for various loggers, peeling pulp. He then moved onto the pallet mill of Phelps, WI. After a short-time, Terry moved onto a position at F.W. Means, until a severe back injury. After rehabilitation, Terry worked as a kiln dryer operator and fork-lift driver at Carlson Enterprise. He also worked at Meyer’s Provision, as a meat cutter and truck driver, as well as Ironland Disposal, as a truck driver. Terry finished his career at Pine River Lumber of Long Lake, Wisconsin. He spoke fondly of all his endeavors and friends he made during these times. Terry married Beth Butler, of Iron River, on July 31, 1970. They lived in Caspian, MI at the start of their marriage, until 1973, when they moved to the family homestead in Iron River, and still reside. Terry and Beth had two children. Casey Charles Strom and wife Becky with Terry’s six granddaughters: Alexis, Caitlyn, Bailey, Kyla, Rylee, and Layna, who reside in Calumet, MI. Heidi Lempi King and husband Nathan with Terry’s grandson: Hunter, who reside in Fond du Lac, WI. He leaves behind his loving wife, Beth, and his family which will forever miss him. Those who knew Terry, will remember he was an entrepreneur who loved to buy and sell antiques and collectibles, and pick night-crawlers for many of the local fishermen. He also enjoyed raising cattle and hunting and fishing. But most importantly, he loved spending time with his two children and seven grandchildren. Terry will also be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, but most importantly a mentor and a friend. At Terry’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Terry C. Strom, please visit our flower store.
