Theodora June “Cookie” Flancher passed away unexpectedly at her home at the age of 77 on March 28, 2020. She was loved and will be missed. Cookie was born on August 29, 1942 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of Theodore “Ted” and Genevieve June “Sweet Pea” (Sadowski) Kumkoski. On October 15, 1960 she married Howard Bruce Flancher. In Iron River, together they raised a daughter, Cheryl Ann Sartorelli and a son, Steven Bruce Flancher. Cookie was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; daughter, Cheryl Ann; her parents, Theodore and June; and sisters, Carol and Sandra. She is survived by her companion, Cliff; son, Steven (Isabelle); five grandsons; one granddaughter; two great grandsons; extended family and friends. Cookie’s granddaughter Stefanie said during her visit in September 2019 that she still wore a ring on every finger of her tattooed hands (which she had done in her late 60s). She loved the color purple, wolves, unicorns, dogs, and plants. She thinks of her as the most hardcore yet sweet and giggly creature to ever exist. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Northwoods Animal Shelter in Iron River, MI. In light of the current situation, there will be a celebration of life for Cookie when the coronavirus pandemic ends. The COVID-19 did not kill her; rather she was just getting tired and it was her time. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River, MI.
