Thomas Roch Gendzwill died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at his home in Caspian, MI. He was born June 30, 1940 to the late Walter and Theresa Gendzwill. Tom was a life long resident of the area and graduated from Iron River High School in 1957. After obtaining his teaching certification from Northern Michigan University, he started his career in Wausaukee, Wisconsin. There he met Judy Betley Gendzwill and the couple moved to Iron River where he became the Cannon Mine Vocational Director. Through the years, he held many positions within the West Iron County School District, spending the last ten years of his career as high school principal. He took great pride in and received much satisfaction from his involvement with the youth of Iron County as an educator. Tom was an avid outdoorsman spending his free time hunting and fishing around the area. He truly loved everything the U.P. had to offer. He was a member of McNeil Oilers and several other men's sports leagues, where he met many life long friends. He was an active member of St. Cecilia Parish and dearly loved singing in the choir. He is survived by his four children, Jeff of Arlington, VA, Ted of Farmington Hills, MI, Nick of Northville, MI and Holly of Seattle, WA; three brothers Walter (Jackie) , Don (Norma), and Robert (Kay) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Monday, November 7, 2011 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River Funeral Service: Monday, November 7, 2011 at 12:00 noon at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
