Thomas J. Holmes

Thomas ""Slick"" John Holmes, 59 of Iron River, MI, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Northstar Health System, Iron River. Thomas was born on August 10, 1949 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Jack ""Pudge"" Holmes and the late Lillian M. Trevarton Holmes. He graduated from Stambaugh High school in 1968 and Northern Michigan University School of Mechanics in 1970. Slick was a self-employed logger for many years. He enjoyed working on cars, and was especially proud of his 1967 Chevelle. An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Thomas is survived by his daughter Brenda (Matthew) Ozog and grandchildren Courtney, Tiffany and Anthony Ozog, all of Wayne MI; his father, Jack ""Pudge"" Holmes of Iron River; his sister, Patti (Ronjo) Leonoff of Iron River; his brother, Michael (Debbie) Holmes of Ironwood, MI He was also preceded in death by his son Thomas Jr. Visitation: Wednesday, June 17, 2009 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, with Rev. Mark Ryan to officiate.
