Urban J. Guiliani

Urban J. Guiliani, age 89, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on March 19, 1931 in Vulcan, MI, the son of the late Selester and Eileen (Hinds) Guiliani. Urban attended the Vulcan Schools, graduating with the Class of 1949. He attended Michigan Technological University and earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He served in the US Army from 1949 to 1952 with a two-year tour of duty in the Occupation of Okinawa. Urban married Carolyn Erdman on August 19, 1983 in Hibbing, MN. The couple celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in 2018. Carolyn preceded him in death on October 28, 2018. He was employed as a mining engineer with M.A. Hanna Company for 27 years. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River and the VFW Ottawa Post #3134 of Iron River. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going dancing with Carolyn. Urban is survived by his son, Tom (Susan) Guiliani of Pryor, OK; daughters, Janie Guiliani (Jim King) of Vanderbilt, MI and Teresa (Tim Barry) Guiliani of Madison, WI; stepdaughter, Diana (Joel) VanLanen of Iron River, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Emily Panis, Jonathon Panis, Hunter Brisson and his step-grandchildren; Joel VanLanen Jr, Boaz VanLanen, Abram VanLanen, Victoria King, Alexandra King, and his great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Delores Kelly, the mother of his children Agnes Guiliani, and his stepson Willian Lochar IV. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 9:30 am – 10:45 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites after the service. Pallbearers will be Joel VanLanen Jr, Boaz VanLanen, Abram VanLanen, Hunter Brisson, Jonathan Panis, and Joel VanLanen Sr. Interment will be in Garden of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba, MI.
