Verna Mae Cecilia Pedranzan, age 86, of Iron River, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at her home. She was born November 11, 1929 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Daniel and Bertha (Belongie) Briggs. She attended the Pentoga, Palatka, and Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School with the Class of 1947. She was employed at the Miners State Bank and later at the Selins Store prior to her marriage to Aldo Pedranzan on May 16, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Gaastra. Verna was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and St. Ann’s Society, and a teacher at Blessed Sacrament. She was a wonderful wife, loved to read and do crossword puzzles, and was an avid Packer and Detroit Tiger fan. Verna is survived by her husband, Aldo, son, Marty Joseph Pedranzan of Neenah, WI, and grandchildren, Valerie and Sheldon. She was also preceded in death by her son James on November24, 1959, brothers, Royal and Richard Briggs, and her sister Antoinette Roman. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
