Vernette L. Timpani

Vernette L. Timpani, age 84, of Gaastra, MI, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Iron River Care Center. Vernette was born May 2, 1932 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Otto and Dorothy (Ask) Swanson. She attended the Bates and Rogers Schools. Vernette married John James “Jim” Timpani on September 13, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gaastra and the couple made their home in Gaastra. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2009. Jim preceded her in death on November 24, 2009. She worked at Coleman Products for several years and was later employed as a nurse’s aide at the Crystal Manor for ten years. Vernette was a life member of the American Legion Reino Post #21 Ladies Auxiliary, a life member of the VFW Ottowa Post #134 Ladies Auxiliary, and a life member of the DAV Post #67 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and spending time with her family. Vernette is survived by her son, David (Jennette) Timpani of Bethpage, TN; daughter, Donna (Dave) Koski of Iron River, MI; brother, Carter (Gloria) Swanson of New Port Richey, FL; sister, Marlene (James) Testini of Caspian, MI; and grandson, Joseph Koski of Plover, WI. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenton “Swannie” Swanson. Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the American Legion Reino Post #21 Ladies Auxiliary to offer services. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, in the spring.
