Vina S. Meyers

Vina S. Meyers, age 100, of Iron River, passed away Sunday, April 2, 1017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. She was born May 19, 1916 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie (Drozdowski) Karney. She attended the Iron River Schools. Vina married Joseph “Joe” H. Meyers on October 15, 1949 and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 2005. Joe preceded her in death on June 3, 2006. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, St. Agnes Altar Society, the Rosary Sodality and American Legion Auxiliary. Vina enjoyed picking berries, working on puzzles, crafting, and sitting on her porch looking at the lake. She is survived by her sisters, Adeline Karney of Ferndale, MI; Ann Vick of Berkeley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Chester, Edward, and Benjamin Karney, and sister, Irene Sanderson. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate.
