Viola Schroder, age 89 of Tipler, WI, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Golden Living Center, Florence, WI. Born: June 9, 1919 in Angelica WI The daughter of the late John and Grace (Dickson) Hoffman attended school in Tipler WI. Viola married Lloyd Schroder on June 26, 1937 in Iron River, MI and the couple made their home in Tipler. She did custodial work at the Tipler School and later at the Long Lake School, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed going on several bus trips with her cousin Violet. Viola was a member of the Maple Grove Covenant Church, in Tipler WI where she was active in the Ladies Aid. It later became the Maple Grove Community Baptist Church, which she attended until April 2008. She wrote the Tipler News for the Florence Mining News, for 50 years. She cooked at Purdue Forestry camp at Last Lake for two years. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Schroder on May 2, 1976; an infant son Gary in 1939; and one great granddaughter Casey Grace Schroder. She is survived by her son, Gordon (Judy) Schroder of Tipler Daughter, Meredith (Larry Vasser) Smith of Iron River Sister Vivian Hoppe of IL Brother Raymond (Theressa) Hoffman of Tipler Brother and sister-in-law Archie and Vera Schroder of Shawano, WI Sister-in-law Mary Schroder of Menominee Falls WI Five grandchildren; Brenda (Don) Brooks Paul (Cathy) Schroder Brian (Geri) Smith Scott (Tonya) Schroder Kurt (Lori) Schroder Two step grandchildren; Sarah and Jeff Ten great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren Several nieces, nephews, and cousins Special friends Eileen Smith and Lois Cox, and many other friends Visitation: February 4, 2009 from 1:00 to 2 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
