Virginia Mae Nelson

Virginia Mae Nelson, age 91, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Florence Health Center in Wisconsin. Virginia was born August 12, 1925 in Bates, MI the daughter of the late Nels and Signe (Bjorkman) Nelson. She attended the Bates and Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School, with the Class of 1943. She worked at Abbott Lab in Waukegan, WI and then moved to Madison, WI, where she was a bookkeeper in the retail industry for many years, until her retirement. She returned to the Iron River area to reside near her family. Virginia is survived by her sister, Evelyn Javoroski of Sobieski, WI; sister-in-law, Nancy Nelson of Bates and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey and Bob, and sister, Alice Volk. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kraig Tass to officiate.
