Waddick T. Wercinski, age 91, of Iron River, MI, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. He was born March 7, 1923 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Hall) Wercinski. Following graduation from Stambaugh High School, Waddick attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. He was employed as a miner by the M.A. Hanna Mining Company, and was also a mining inspector for the U.S. Government for 35 years. Following retirement, Waddick moved to Beaver Dam, WI, where he owned and operated the Polish Palace Bar, which he greatly enjoyed. Eventually he decided to return to his roots in Stambaugh, MI. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and canning, watching sports, and doing needlework. Waddick is survived by his daughter, Kristine (Jonny) Flewelling of Lake Havasu City, AZ; son, Harry Thomas (Linda) Wercinski of Caspian; brother, Celestine (Clara) Wercinski of Cocoa Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Tina (Glen) Waring, Glen Flewelling, Kelly Wercinsk,i and Eric Wercinski; seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Zoe, Mykayla, Madeline, Peyton, Jada, and Layla; nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, John, Bernard, and Floryan Wercinski, and great grandson, Matthew. Private family services will be held. In lieu of memorial donations, Masses for Waddick would be greatly appreciated by the family.
