Wade W. Comish, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born February 20, 1927 in Caspian, MI, the son of the late Fredrick and Ethel (Winton) Comish. He attended the Iron River Schools. Wade was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. After his honorable discharge, he attended Barber School and later in life, earned his diploma in 2002.  He was employed as a custodian/bus driver at the Stambaugh and later West Iron County Schools for 22 years. Wade married the former Elaine T. Olson September 30, 1950, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River and the couple made their home in Bates Township. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2000.  Elaine preceded him in death on June 11, 2003. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River, American Legion Alfred Branchini Post #17, VFW Ottawa Post #3134, West Side Veterans, Masonic Lodge, Iron County Fair Board and Sons of the American Legion. He was very active in the Veterans organizations, Boys State, and was named Legionnaire of the Year in 2006. Wade also worked at the Iron County Fairgrounds for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to camp and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Wade is survived by his son, Donald (Amy Jackson) Comish of Iron River; daughters, Fay Ellen (Scott) Whitehead of Bates, Julie (Ernie) Reimann of Bates, and Penny (Scott) McPherson of Iron River; six grandchildren, Raymond, Daniel, Heather, Stacy, Kristina and Phylisha; two great grandchildren; niece, Belle (Chuck) Uren of Crystal Falls, and extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Lee Westerdahl and Sally Sue Wiggins. Visitation will be held at the Iron County Fairgrounds, at the top of the hill on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate. The West Side and East Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Wade W.
