Walter Fedrizzi, age 97, of Quinnesec, MI, formerly of Caspian, MI, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. He was born February 17, 1920 in Caspian, MI, the son of the late Frank and Rica (Bortolameolli) Fedrizzi. He attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1938. Walter married the former Rosina M. Meneguzzo on June 21, 1941 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI. The couple made their home in Caspian, moving to Brule Lake in 1991. The couple celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, with a family celebration in 2016. Walter was employed as a contract mail carrier for the U. S. Postal System for 50 years and was a member of the Mail Carriers Association. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, and member and president of the Tourist Council and Chamber of Commerce of Dickinson County. Together Walter and Rosina started a new business, La Rosina Foods, which they owned and operated for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also attended and graduated from Welding School and enjoyed working on cars and trucks. Walter is survived by his wife, Rosina; children, Barbara (Dale) Ward of Iron Mountain, MI, Cathy (William) Ryan of Kissimmee, FL and Richard (Toni Goriesky) Fedrizzi of Beechwood; eight grandchildren, Tom (Janine) Ward, Kathleen Heinze, Kelly (Jay) Danner, Dale (Donna) Ward Jr., Brian (Sarah) Fedrizzi, Michael (Christina) Fedrizzi, Kerri (Paul) Richer, and Billy (Nicole) Ryan; eleven great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; special nieces, Rica (Deward) Beeler, and Bonnie (Terry) Lemire; nephew, Geno (Sandy) Olson; as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Elmo Fedrizzi. At his request a private family service will be held on Thursday, June 1st. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery. The family is grateful for the staff of Great Northern Home Care, Patti Gorr, Vickie Bourassa, Heather Schmutzler, Carol Foskuhl and Diane Foster for their patience, caring and dedication to our father’s well being. They were not only caregivers, but friends. Appreciation also to the Emergency Room and floor staff at the Dickinson County Hospital.
