Walter R. Moore, age 78, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at his home.  He was born October 30, 1939 in Tipler, WI, the son of the late Santford and Ella (Kempka) Moore.  Walter served his country in the United States Navy as a boiler operator helper and honorably discharged from the USS Porterfield.  Walter married Sharon Saylor on May 17, 1958 in Stambaugh Township. The couple were lifelong residents of the area and celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, before Sharon’s passing on October 6, 2012.  He was employed as a tree trimer for Asplund Tree Service.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and the American Legion.  He was also a former member of the Iron River Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 1603.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.  Walter is survived by his children, Gary Moore of Seattle, WA, Walter Moore, Jr., Victoria (Dennis) Powell, both of Iron River, MI, and Mary Bult of Bonita Springs, FL; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister, Ella Mae Bevan of Austintown, OH; nieces, nephews, and extended family.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Kurt Moore, brother, Santford Moore, and sisters, Dorothy and Betty.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate.  The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.  Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.  To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Walter R.
