Walter H. Zyskowski

Walter H. Zyskowski, age 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away on February 27, 2020 at UP Health System in Marquette, MI. He was born on August 7, 1926 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Walter and Michalina (Lowendowska) Zyskowski. He attended the Iron River Schools and graduated. Walter married Delphine Holm on June 24, 1950 in Amasa, MI. The couple lived in Chicago after getting married before moving back to Michigan. The family then moved to southern California in 1964. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 2006 before her passing on December 16th of that year. He was employed as a miner in the local mines and later worked in maintenance at Chevron in California. He was a former member of the Assumption Church in Iron River. He enjoyed tending to his yard and feeding the wildlife, fishing, and hunting. Walter is survived by his sons, Mark (Wendy) Zyskowski of Iron River, MI, Michael (Angel) Zyskowski of Amasa, MI, and Paul (Linda) Zyskowski of Big Bear, CA; daughters, Lori Oliver of Crystal Falls, MI and Mary (Wes) Vanderpool of Crystal Falls, MI; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by four grandchildren; brothers, Joseph, Anton, Edmond, Sylvester, John, and Thomas; and sisters, Delores, Mary, Ann, Gertrude, Vicky, and Frances. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11am with Pastor Paul Starkweather to officiate.
