Wayne V. Raymond, 89, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born on May 22, 1935, in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Clifford and Mary (Bobula) Raymond. He attended the Iron River Schools and graduated with the class of 1953. Wayne married the former Ruth Butler on July 11, 1992, and made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary in 2024. He held several jobs over the years, first working for his father at Raymond Iron and Metal all through school. Wayne then was an aid at Medicare and then a water well driller for Layne Northwest out of Milwaukee for the Operating Engineers Local 139 for 30 years. Wayne was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian where he served as an usher and was a former member of the Iron River Elks Lodge #1671 for 40 years, where he was an Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, woodworking, yard work, feeding the birds, and having coffee with his friends at the Senior Center. Wayne is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Magdalene (Howard) Steele of Edgemoor, SC and Marianne Raymond of Iron River; brother, Frank (Ann) Raymond of Iron River; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; best friend and motorcycle buddy, Sam (Peggy) Franz; and extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Valjean Jean and brother, Reginald Raymond. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian with Fr. Daniel Dapaah to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
