William J. Blazina

William J. Blazina Age 89 Caspian, MIDied Friday, May 20, 2011 at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. Born April 15, 1922 in Caspian The son of the late John and Francis Blazina attended the Caspian and Stambaugh schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School in 1939. William worked on the ore boats on the Great Lakes to earn money for his college education. He then attended Northern Michigan University and obtained his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Education. He taught school in lower Michigan, Crystal Falls, and twenty five years in the Chassell School System.He was a beloved and devoted teacher. Following his retirement, he returned to Caspian and to all the friends that he loved. William was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and a member of the Caspian Progressive Men. William had a great sense of humor. His favorite past time was visiting with his many friends, playing his opera music, reading and walking. He was preceded in death by his brothers Tony, Joseph and sisters, Anne, Jennie, Antonia and Tilly. He is survived by two nephews,one great nephew and special friends Richard, Susan, and Sandy Sundquist. Memorial Services will be held Thursday June 9, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
