William “Bill” J. McLean, age 95, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. He was born on January 19, 1924 in Stambaugh, Michigan, the son of the late Samuel and Emma (Jensen) McLean. He attended and graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1941. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He was employed as a Purchasing Agent by the Hanna Mining Company for over 25 years. Bill married the former Betty Harris on July 19, 1947, and the couple celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in 2018. Betty preceded him in death on March 9, 2019. He was a member of the Iron River Elks Lodge #1671 and the American Legion Reino Post #21. He loved basketball, baseball, football, and sports in general and managed the boys Stambaugh High School basketball team in the 1930s. He also enjoyed fly fishing and hunting. Bill is survived by his daughter, Judith (Robert) Porier of Iron River; two step grandchildren, Jeff (Judy) and Michael (Faye) Porier; six step great grandchildren; eight step great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Samuel McLean; sister, Elsa McLean; step great grandson, Robert Porier. Private services will be held. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery in the spring. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside. Condolences may be expressed to the family of William “Bill” J.
