William T. Olson

William T. Olson, age 82, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. He was born on August 8, 1939, in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late William and Mary (Waite) Olson. He attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1957. He obtained his master’s degree from Northern Michigan University. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving from 1957 to 1960. Bill married Judy Borns on July 13, 1963, in Milwaukee, WI. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in this year. He was employed as a teacher at West Iron County Schools, retiring after 30 years. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Iron River Elks Lodge 1671 and the Stambaugh-Caspian Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, camping, traveling, going to Tamarack Lake, and spending time with family. Bill is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Eric (Sara) Olson of Cedar Springs, MI; brother, George (Sandy) Olson of Norway, MI; sister, Iris Remondini of Saginaw, MI; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Randy Ponozzo and brother-in-law, David Remondini. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the American Legion Reino Post 21. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
