William J. Stewart

William “Bill” J. Stewart, 77, of Iron River, MI, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on July 29, 1947, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late John and Ann (Wzajalezka) Sklarski. He attended St. Basil Grammer School and graduated from Lindbloom High School in Chicago. Bill married Frances “Fran” Cangelosi on April 13, 1980, at St. William Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in 2024. He was employed as the Sales Manager for Northwest Auto car dealership before retiring. Bill attended St. Agnes Catholic Church after moving to Iron River. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. Bill is survived by his wife, Fran; sister, Patricia (John) Gaffney of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Frank Cangelosi of Coeur D’ Alene, ID; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Carole Stewart. The family would like to thank the staff at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson and Aspirus Iron River for their care of Bill. Services will be held at a later date.
