William A. Tackmier

William A. “Tack” Tackmier, 61, of Iron River, MI, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. He was born March 3, 1953 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the Marjorie (Barnum) Tackmier and the late Burley Merrel Tackmier. He attended the Stambaugh and West Iron County Schools, graduating with the Class of 1971.  After high school, William served his country in the U.S. Army.  William married the former JoAnn LaFountain on March 20, 1999 in Iron River.   He worked as a surveyor on the pipeline for 31 years.  William was a member of the American Legion Reino Post #21. William is survived by his wife, JoAnn; mother, Marjorie Tackmier; daughters, Lisa (Brian) Hoch of Stevens Point, WI, Bridget (Roger) Vest of Seminole, FL, and Justine Tackmier of Iron River; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his brother Todd Tackmier and his sister Jane Lamp.  Visitation will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home with Rev. Roberta Willson officiating.  The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the service.   Interment will be in the Iron River City Cemetery.
