Eva Ruth Rizzardi, 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. She was born May 27, 1919 in Iron River, MI, daughter of the late Secondo and Ida (Toti) Dominici. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1937. She organized many class reunions, the most recent being the 75th in 2012. Eva married Albert Rizzardi on August 8, 1942 in Tennessee, and the couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1992. Albert preceded her in death in 1995. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, the, Rosary Sodality, the Italian Ladies Society, and the Lady Elks, serving as President for a term. In 1971, she was named Woman of the Year at the Michigan Week Awards Banquet. Eva was a vibrant member of the community, volunteering for many causes in Iron County, especially for the less fortunate or handicapped. She was a founding member of the fund raising committee for the Iron County General Hospital. She always welcomed family, friends, and strangers into her home with the warmest heart and unlimited generosity. Her Italian cooking was the very best, and she especially enjoyed playing cards with friends, watching sports on television, or gambling at the casino. She was preceded in death by her son, Robin Rizzardi; son-in-law, Wayne Lewis; brother, Alvin Dominici; sisters, Anne Windsor, Evelyn Vantaggi, and Henrietta Ramberg; and special friend, Herman Taetsch. Eva is survived by her children, , Marsha Lewis of Watersmeet, MI, Dennis (Susanne) Rizzardi of Bluffton, SC, and Sheree Rizzardi of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Todd Rizzardi, Shannon, Gina, and Brian McDonnell; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held Monday, May 27, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 27, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase, Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The ladies of the Rosary Sodality and the Italian Ladies will form an Honor Guard at the service. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
