John Lewis

John C. Lewis, 71, of Cassatt, SC, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at his home. He was born September 21, 1941 in Waukegan, IL, son of the late John G. and Antoinette (Kasprowski) Lewis. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1959. John married the former Barbara Howe on August 10, 1959 in Iron River and the couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2009. He was employed as a technician in the auto industry for over 25 years. He enjoyed westerns, reading, and anything mechanical. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Lewis. John is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, John Patrick (Tammy) Lewis of Columbia, SC, Michael W. (Iryna) Lewis of Elgin, SC, and Gordon R. (Lori) Lewis of Florence, WI; brother, Ronald (Donna) Lewis of Iron River; sister-in-law, Marsha Lewis of Watersmeet, MI; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase, Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
