Carol D. Butler

Carol D. Butler, age 67, of Iron River, MI, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born August 19, 1948 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of Thomas and Annabelle (Raymond) Marcell. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School. Carol married Jerry Butler in November 1967 in Wayne, MI, and the couple celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year. Carol was employed as a bank auditor for 33 years. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, and St. Agnes Altar Society. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Carol is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughters, Holly (Joseph) Kangas of Caspian, Erin Butler of Seattle, WA, and Meagan Butler of Iron River; mother, Annabelle Marcell of Iron River; brothers, James (Rebecca) Marcell of Caspian, Thomas (Judy) Marcell of Iron River, Gerald Marcell of Milan, MI, Dennis Marcell of Ypsilanti, MI, Dean (Joan) Marcell of Shawano, WI, and Gary Marcell of Iron River; sisters, Teresa (Gary) Pangrazzi of Iron River, Elizabeth “Betty” (James) Falkner of Mackinaw City, MI, Rose Marie (Randel) Heimerl of Palmer, AK, Barbara Marcell of Caspian, and Mary “Patty” (William) Rivard of Caspian; two grandchildren, Kaitlin and Benjamin Davis, and one great-grandchild, Jayce Bain; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas, and brothers, Steven and Russell Marcell. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
