LaVerne F. Marlowe, age 92, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on June 10, 1927 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Edward and Fannie (Sertila) Windahl. She attended the Iron River Schools. LaVerne married Clifford Marlowe on October 12, 1946, and the couple celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in 1998. Clifford preceded her in death on October 29, 1998. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. LaVerne was an accomplished artist and enjoyed gardening. She had many blue ribbons for her artwork that were shown at multiple county fairs and at the Iron County Museum in Caspian, MI. She especially loved spending quality time with her family and grandchildren. LaVerne is survived by her sons, Jerry Marlowe of Iron River, MI, Robert (Ellen) Marlowe of Merrill, WI, and Leslie (Mary) Marlowe of Suamico, WI; daughters, Marilyn (Gary) Sabol of Caspian, MI, Pat (Ray) Atanasoff and Cheryl (Tim) Murillo, both of Iron River, MI; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild due in June; extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Ardella Suomi, and infant grandchildren, Carla Marlowe and Eric Marlowe. Services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
